Clean Street Sweep

Posted on June 2, 2009

Saturday, June 6, 2009   10:00 a.m. – Noon. RAIN DATE:  Sunday June 7, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.  Initiating at Kiley Park to clean as many East Lynn sidewalks and streets as possible. (gather at the back of the concession building at the corner of Burrill and Seymour) Cookout to follow at Kiley Park at end time. All Clean Sweep participants welcome! Ward 3 City Councillor Darren Cyr and the ELCP providing food!
Not only is a clean street more attractive for all residents and visitors, but it actually discourages more litter AND makes it a less attractive spot for unwanted activities (gangs will look for areas where it appears residents aren’t paying attention to their surroundings)! Also and importantly, litter in our streets ends up in the ocean via street sewers, contaminating the water—causing “no swim” days, as well as killing the fish and birds.

Gloves and bags will be distributed at Kiley Park at the starting time, but if you can participate–even if only for 15 minutes–by cleaning just in front of your own home, we can make a huge difference. Get the whole family involved!
