Arts After Hours: Rising from the Ashes of Third Thursdays

Posted on August 9, 2010

You might remember Third Thursdays as the seminal summer event bringing people from all walks of life to Downtown Lynn for a night of entertainment, food and participatory fun. It was discontinued this year, I think, due to lack funding. Well, August 12 isn’t the third Thursday, but the Downtown Lynn Neighborhood Association is hoping to revive downtown as a destination for the arts and entertainment with their new event.

The inaugural Arts After Hours event will take place on Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Lynn Museum Park, located at 590 Washington Street in Lynn, MA. This back yard bash will celebrate local original art, music, food, and wine and further ignite Downtown Lynn’s growing nightlife. Admission for the event is $5 per person and includes museum admission. At 9:00 PM, the event will move to Turbine Wine Bar at 56 Central Square for more festivities and the drawing of the 50/50 raffle prize. Guests must be present to win.

I hear there will be fire performance art. So go and be astounded by fire breathing, fire eating, fire juggling antics. And I give Fernando’s food an enthusiastic thumbs up. This is the Arts After Hour’s website. Truth be told, I am continually astounded by the chutzpah and resourcefulness of the group of people putting this together.
