Open Office Hours with Jamie Marsh

Posted on October 24, 2010

This event has been postponed to Tuesday, Nov. 9 due to expected bad weather tomorrow.

The planet Jupiter with its moon, Io, is what you might see after office hours with Jamie Marsh at High Rock Observatory.

The East Lynn Community Association invites its members and other interested residents to open office hours with Lynn Office of Economic and Community Development director Jamie Marsh on Tuesday, October 26. Hours begin at 6:30 PM in Room 311 at City Hall. Later, the group will carpool to High Rock Tower for an exclusive viewing though the city’s 12″ telescope.

Mr. Marsh became the city’s Director of Community Development in 2008 after serving as Chief of Staff for Mayor Chip Clancy. Since then, his office has overseen the administration of the Waterfront Development, city beautification projects and park restorations. Visit the OECD’s website to see all the projects they’re involved in.

Mr. Marsh is accessible and wants to listen to your concerns and suggestions. The OECD website encourages visitors to email and call, even to send in photos of unsightly or deteriorating signs and overflowing city trash barrels. If need be, Jamie will do the work himself, for example, mulching the tree bed in front of Dunkin Donuts in the heart of Downtown Lynn. He is an unparelleled resource.

If that wasn’t enough, he knows how to operate the observatory telescope at High Rock Tower. After we meet with him, we’ll carpool there to view the heavens. The weather forecast for Tuesday night is partly cloudy with a low of 68 so it should be a comfortable evening with fair seeing. The waning gibbous moon will be high in the sky. The planet Jupiter will also shining brightly. Who knows what else we may observe?
