Fortucci Hearing Prompts Headline Dilemma

I am stunned at the inanity and incompetence of this city’s government. So stunned, in fact, that I’m having trouble coming up with a suitable headline for this post. Let’s see…

LOCAL BLOGGER SCOOPS ITEMLIVE

It’s been the internet age for a while now, and the Item still finds itself swinging late. Kudos to Corey Jackson of Downtown Lynn for providing up-to-the-minute coverage, right down to what each councilor said. Seth Albaum of Lynn Happens is also to be commended for providing us cable news junkies with countless hours of video to devour. You have strong stomachs, gentlemen.

CONFIDENCE IN CITY GOVERNMENT AT ALL TIME LOW

I’m speaking purely for myself here. Whether you’re on Fortucci’s or Kennedy’s side, we just witnessed the airing of an extra large load of dirty laundry and boy does it stink, but it had to be done. What we have here is a failure to communicate. What we have here is a textbook case of bureaucratic bungling. What we have here are probably some shady dealings that need to be exposed further. What we have here is the messiness of open government. Be careful what you ask for, you might get it. A sight to behold, it is not for the faint of heart or for those without a thickness of skin akin to shoe leather. This is Lynn city politics.

Please explain to me how this CFO merits a six-figure salary. Will Fortucci and Kennedy ever be able to work together after this? Will our elected officials find the will to make the changes they talk about so hopefully? Work with each other to create a system of employee review such as councilor Crowley suggested? No one is to blame yet everyone is to blame.
